I’m not the kind of person who springs out of bed in the morning. In fact, I have to set my alarm to go off early because I know that, no matter what, I will hit snooze. And I frequently have to promise myself that I can nap later (which I almost never do) if I want to if I can just get up right now. I tell myself that I can’t make Elizabeth late for work and that that’s what will happen if I don’t get up.
But it’s ten times harder when it’s cold out. I HATE getting out of a warm bed (like this morning when I was all snuggled up with the pups) and into the cold. And the dark. It’s easier to get up when the sun is shining. The sun doesn’t shine at 6AM in the winter in Georgia.
But when I manage to get up on time, get a shower, actually put on make up and dress in something other than athletic-wear to nanny in all day (I have gotten to where I call anything other than gym clothes “normal clothes”), AND get the dogs out to potty early enough that they don’t make me late, I am feeling good. The best mornings, though, are the ones like this:
Not only am I on time, but there is a gorgeous sunrise. It’s like God saying, “HEY! You! Chill. Look around you. Enjoy this because you’ll never see it again.”
And if I’m also having a smooth morning, it means I have enough time to grab my camera and capture that moment of beauty. I don’t drink coffee in the morning, but I find skies like this pretty refreshing all on their own.
