On Monday morning, I woke up waaaay too early (3:12 AM) to get Jo calmed down from something that had woken her out of a deep sleep and upset her. After I got her back to sleep, I crawled back to lay down and snooze some more (now 4:12AM). Three hours later, I got up and nursed Jo then fed her her breakfast.
When it was time for her to be put down for a nap, I discovered that she had poop coming out of her diaper, up her back. I made the situation oh-so-much better by smearing it all the way to her shoulders as I took her soiled onesie off of her.
While I was wiping poop off my tired and fussy six-month-old, I could hear Tom downstairs, yelling, “OH! NO!!! Go back outside. NOW!”
“Great,” I thought to myself. I informed Josey, “That means the dogs were digging a hole in the backyard and ran inside covered in mud. Again.”
After I put her down for her nap, I came downstairs to find half the stairway, a blanket, a couch, and the path from the doggy door to the stairs covered in muddy paw prints. While Tom hosed off the dogs, I started to clean up the mud. After they were dried off, he came in to help me.
Once that was over, Tom started to stress that he hadn’t started work yet that morning, as I sat on the couch and took my temperature (under my arm) with a thermometer that I realized I had last used to take Josey’s temperature. Rectally.
Sure enough, I had a slight fever. Did I forget to mention that I had a cold? And I slept on the couch the night before because the fan in our room was making me feel worse?
Tom got to work. I took a shower and thanked God once again for my mother-in-law and sister-in-law who were excited about coming over to play with Josey so I could get some rest that day.
Because at this point, I had a packed an entire “case of the Monday’s” into my day before 10AM.
There is no real point to me telling you this other than….life happens. If you wonder how other moms seem to have it all together- clean house, daily workouts, awesome meals, work all done, and perfect children….well, I wonder that too. If you ever need a dose of reality, this blog is where to find it.
I’m lucky if I get one thing out of the “perfect mom” list done in a day. I’m not afraid to ask for back-up when I’m sick. And my house is ALWAYS covered in dog fur.
That is all.
